VISAS IN KENYA

Kenya has replaced the tourist visa and instead requests since January 1st 2024 a Kenyan eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization). Obtaining this new type of VISA or ETA for Kenya is quite a straightforward and easy process. Digital Nomad Visas have been discussed before, however, nothing has been officially released or set. Kenya is quickly becoming the top destination for Digital Nomads in East Africa, so we are hoping to see them in not too long!

For now see below the requirements to apply for the new ETA in Kenya, do not forget to check for the latest regulations before flying.

It is possible to work remotely from Kenya, you can choose to stay on a white sandy beach, visit one of the numerous National Parks and Reserves in the country or immerse in the cool city of Nairobi.

How to enter Kenya as a Digital Nomad? Is there a Digital Nomad visa in Kenya? What is the new ETA procedure in Kenya? Travel to Kenya

Nairobi is emerging and positioning itself as the Silicon Savannah of East Africa and there is a reason for that. Good flight and road networks, modern cities, loads of places to visit within the country and most importantly good wifi, which is also improving daily! Kenya does not allow visas on arrival since 2021. To get started with your visa application you will have to visit the official Government website for Kenya. Create an account and follow the steps that continue. Try and have this procedure completed at least 2 weeks before your arrival to Kenya is set, you can apply for your Kenyan eTA as early as 3 months prior to the arrival into the country.

Your entry into Kenya will be for up to 90 days and they can be extended for further 90 days without leaving the country. It should normally just take between 24 - 72 hours to get your Kenyan eTA - we always advise that you do it as early as possible.
